Law and Technology institute of Wuhan University is a research institute for cutting-edge legal issues established by Wuhan University, relying on the disciplines of law, civil and commercial law and intellectual property law. The research interests cover civil and commercial law, intellectual property law, constitutional law, criminal law, data rule of law, algorithmic governance, artificial intelligence and law, intelligent manufacturing and robotics, satellite navigation and positioning technology, information retrieval and big data intelligence, strategic management of intellectual property, hydroelectric power generation and many other fields, with extremely rich interdisciplinary perspectives and abundant interdisciplinary resources.

The Research Centre follows the trend of the times, responds to the call of the state, and promotes in-depth interdisciplinary research at the intersection of arts and science, and introduces the intellectual resources of emerging technologies into the field of law. It will conduct cutting-edge research and deployment in areas such as intellectual property protection in the data era, the legal status of artificial intelligence, the theory and rule system of data property rights, personal information protection, changes in personality rights and their response, research and application of life sciences, legal governance of platform operators, legal risks of blockchain, the theory of private rights of digital currency, meta-universe rules, financialisation of the carbon market, etc., and promote research on governance frameworks and the design of mechanisms in the field of emerging technologies. The research centre is dedicated to the design of governance frameworks and mechanisms in the emerging science and technology sector, and to the formation of a pluralistic system of policies, ethics and laws and regulations, and to the complementarity of science and technology innovation and institutional innovation.
